Ling at Lexxify
One of our goals at Lexxify is to make understudied/less-commonly taught languages more accessible to prospective learners by increasing their online prominence, especially on social media.
One of the major questions in determining how to get these under-resourced or under-documented language into social media and into a format that can be readily studied by potential second-language learners is how to represent the language in writing systems- not just a matter of deciding on orthographies (which itself can be a very contentious issue), but also determining intuitive ways to transcribe the sounds of the language into other scripts to aid learners during the learning process.
As such, some of the transcription systems used here on Lexxify are designed in-house to be provided for the convenience of learners, and the system description tables and other linguistic notes will be posted here for learners to reference. We will also have other linguistic features on this site as well as time goes on. We hope that this will help users in the process of learning some of the many languages supported on the Lexxify Hub platform.
